  • Roots Revealed offers 2-hour walking tours of historic Ballymena, the City of the Seven Towers and known as the Gateway to the Glens of Antrim. Ballymena is just a few miles away from many of the iconic Game of Thrones filming locations and just 15 miles from the beautiful Causeway Coastal Route. Why not make a detour and see around my hometown? Ballymena is in County Antrim, Northern Ireland and this video shows briefly what will be included in the tour. We'll visit the remaining towers, hear about the ancient Irish tribes who lived here before the Plantation. You'll hear about the Adair family who were granted large areas of land and their influence on the town. We'll cover the Dr Colville's deal with the devil and how Squire O'Hara became the headless horseman. You'll hear tales of St Patrick who tended sheep as a slave just a few miles away and the early churches in the area. We'll cover the linen industry and the growth of Ballymena into a thriving market town as well as talk about some of her famous inhabitants.
